NBI Bearings Europe, a leading bearings company in Spain, faced challenges in expanding its research and development capabilities while maintaining its competitive edge in the industrial sector. The company specializes in bearings designed to protect against dirt and moisture, which is crucial for industries such as oil and gas, agriculture, and iron and steel. With a workforce of 32 employees and operations in 50 countries, NBI Bearings aimed to enhance its R&D facilities to innovate further and improve product quality.
To address these needs, NBI Bearings secured a EUR 500,000 working capital loan from Bankinter, supported by a 50% guarantee from the European Investment Fund (EIF) under the Risk Sharing Instrument (RSI). This financial support was instrumental in allowing the company to expand its R&D facilities and hire six additional staff members for its technical plant. The RSI guarantee, funded by the EU Commission, complemented existing national research promotion schemes in Spain, enabling NBI Bearings to implement more R&D projects and accelerate its growth trajectory. As a result, the company is now better positioned to innovate and meet the demands of its diverse market.
