Full Credential Description

VEHIS, a Polish car platform, faced the challenge of expanding access to financing for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and Mid-Caps in Poland. To address this issue, the European Investment Bank (EIB) Group partnered with VEHIS to facilitate a cash securitisation that would enable the company to originate PLN 2.6 billion in auto leases. This innovative financing solution was designed to support the acquisition of low carbon road vehicles and promote economic inclusion, particularly for women-led businesses.

The tailored solution involved the EIB investing PLN 637 million (€150 million) in senior class notes backed by auto leases originated by VEHIS. Additionally, the European Investment Fund (EIF) provided guarantees to a third-party investor, allowing for further investment in the securitisation. This operation aimed to ensure that at least 30% of the new car financing would be directed towards women-led businesses, while at least 10% would support climate action initiatives, including the leasing of electric vehicles.

As a result of this collaboration, VEHIS is positioned to significantly enhance its lending capabilities, reaching underserved market segments and contributing to regional development in areas with lower per capita income. The partnership not only aims to foster business growth but also to promote gender equality and accelerate the transition to cleaner transport solutions in Poland. This strategic investment exemplifies how financial institutions can leverage capital markets to create meaningful impacts in local economies.
