Full Credential Description

Move Energy, a venture capital firm based in Amsterdam, faced the challenge of securing substantial funding to support early-stage ventures focused on decarbonising the power, transport, and buildings sectors, which collectively account for 55% of global CO? emissions. To address this, they sought investment to accelerate their efforts in the energy transition, particularly through hardware and software innovations.

The European Investment Fund (EIF) provided a tailored solution by committing €35 million to Move Energy Fund I under the InvestEU initiative. This investment was pivotal in validating Move Energy's mission and strategy, enabling them to attract additional commitments from over 30 investors, including cornerstone investor Pon Holdings, bringing the total commitments of the fund to over €100 million. The EIF's backing not only enhanced the fund's financial capacity but also positioned it to invest in transformative ventures that contribute to a sustainable future.

As a result of this strategic partnership, Move Energy has already invested in five companies and aims to reach a final close of €150 million by the end of Q1 2025. This funding is expected to significantly bolster the development of innovative solutions that address climate change, demonstrating the EIF's commitment to supporting impactful initiatives in the energy sector.
