The European Investment

Full Credential Description

The European Investment Fund (EIF) has made a significant investment as an anchor investor in AVP Growth Fund I, which is part of the European Tech Champions Initiative (ETCI). This initiative aims to bolster the late-stage tech funding landscape in Europe, addressing a critical market gap for European technology companies seeking growth-stage investments. The EIF's involvement is intended to enhance the competitiveness of European tech firms against top-tier US investment platforms.

AVP Growth Fund I has already successfully closed three transactions within its first year, including investments in notable companies such as Agicap and Odoo. The fund is designed to provide a differentiated alternative for European entrepreneurs, allowing them to access capital without having to rely solely on US growth funds or sovereign wealth funds. This strategic investment by EIF is expected to mobilize additional public and private resources, with a goal of supporting fast-growing high-tech companies across various sectors, including cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, and biotechnology.

Since the launch of the ETCI in 2023, it has committed over €2.2 billion to nine different scale-up technology funds, with an anticipated mobilization of €10 billion in total resources. This initiative not only aims to meet the financing needs of European technology scale-ups but also seeks to prevent these companies from relocating overseas, thereby reinforcing Europe’s strategic autonomy and enhancing its competitiveness in the global market.
