Filip Hájek, a recent graduate in Prehistoric Archaeology from Masaryk University in Brno, faced significant challenges in financing his further education due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic. He had planned to work part-time to support his studies in the Field Archaeology on Land and Under the Sea Master's Programme at the University of Cyprus. However, the closure of the bar where he worked left him without the expected income to cover his living expenses and loan repayments.

To address this financial gap, Filip utilized an EU-guaranteed loan provided through the Erasmus+ Master’s Loan Guarantee Facility, which covered his accommodation and tuition fees. This tailored financial solution was crucial in allowing him to pursue his studies without the burden of immediate financial stress. Despite the pandemic causing disruptions to his course structure, with the first semester being theoretical and the practical second semester postponed, the loan enabled him to focus on his education and future aspirations.

As a result of this support, Filip is now able to continue his academic journey, with hopes of pursuing a PhD that aligns with his interests in archaeology, particularly in the Near East and diving. The financial assistance not only alleviated his immediate concerns but also positioned him to explore career opportunities in his field, demonstrating the significant impact of the Erasmus+ Master’s Loan on his educational and professional trajectory.
