Gamelearn, a Spanish company specializing in ICT and game-based corporate learning, faced a significant challenge in the corporate training sector. Traditional face-to-face training was not only expensive and time-consuming, but online reading courses had a low completion rate of around 25%, leading to wasted resources. To address this issue, Gamelearn developed an innovative online corporate training platform that gamifies the learning experience, transforming courses into engaging virtual games. For instance, employees can enhance their negotiation skills through a game set on a sailing ship in Renaissance Italy, achieving a remarkable 94% completion rate among users.

Founded by Maider Apraiz, Ibrahim Jabary, and Eduardo Monfort, Gamelearn initially started as a face-to-face corporate HR consultancy before pivoting to online courses inspired by the creative potential of gaming and the desire for international growth. Their first game, "Merchant," launched in their second year, became a significant success, prompting rapid expansion beyond Spain and Portugal into markets like Germany, France, the U.S., Mexico, and China.

To support their growth ambitions, Gamelearn secured an EU-guaranteed loan from Inveready, backed by the European Investment Fund (EIF), in November 2018. This financing enabled the company to create 22 new jobs and invest in the development of additional games and a new platform that allows customers to customize their learning experiences. The founders aim to position Gamelearn as the "Netflix of games for learning," reflecting their commitment to revolutionizing corporate training and changing the culture surrounding it.
