Full Credential Description

When Kathrin Schöning’s boss decided to retire and sell her florist business, she saw an opportunity to take over the shop where she had worked for nearly a decade. However, the challenge was securing the necessary financing to make her bid. Kathrin approached one of the on-lending banks of the German KfW Banking Group for a loan. Her extensive experience and the solid financial performance of the business helped her gain the bank's confidence, leading to a successful financing solution.

With the support of the European Investment Fund (EIF) and the Investment Plan for Europe, Kathrin was able to purchase the florist shop, Blumen Wohlers. Since taking over, she has revitalized the business by redesigning the interior, separating storage from the retail space, and enhancing the display of flowers outside. Today, she employs seven staff members and has received positive feedback from her loyal customers, who appreciate the fresh approach she has brought to the business.

Kathrin expresses satisfaction with her decision to take over the shop, stating, “I never regretted my decision for one second; I am as happy as I could be.” While she does not have plans to expand further, she is content with the current size and operation of her business, which has thrived under her management.
