Full Credential Description

In the wake of supply chain instability and inflation following the pandemic, a major player in the global logistics and infrastructure sector aimed to enhance its Canada-based container logistics services by acquiring two container terminal assets in the U.S. The client faced the challenge of integrating these acquisitions with its existing network of terminals while maintaining business continuity at its Canadian corporate office.

we was engaged to facilitate this integration process. The team implemented a strategy that involved separating functions from the parent company to allow for a smooth integration of the acquired assets into the existing network and regional office. They established a transition service agreement (TSA) that provided support for nine months, ensuring there was no disruption to business operations. Additionally, they collaborated with the chief technology officer to design a future IT strategy and developed a future-state organizational structure. This involved conducting workshops with functional leaders from both companies to refine the target operating model.

The integration efforts were successfully led during the critical first 100 days, with the team identifying functional leaders for each workstream to maintain integration momentum and execution in the subsequent months. As a result of these initiatives, the team uncovered over $8 million in potential cost synergies, which were identified across various areas including back-office costs, operating expense procurement, IT corporate systems, and the elimination of corporate allocation.
