Full Credential Description
Joe & the Juice, a Danish chain of juice bars founded in 2002 by Kaspar Basse and a university friend, faced the challenge of scaling its operations while maintaining the quality and customer experience that defined its brand. The company aimed to respond to the growing demand for healthy fast food options in a trendy environment, which required significant investment to support its expansion plans.
To address these challenges, Joe & the Juice secured investment from Valedo, SEB, and Armada, an EIF-backed mezzanine fund. This financial backing enabled the company to accelerate its growth strategy, allowing it to expand from 47 bars at the end of 2013 to nearly 100 bars by the end of 2015. The majority of these locations are situated in the Nordic region, particularly Denmark, with additional expansion into the UK, Germany, and the US. Furthermore, Joe & the Juice has established franchise agreements in France, Singapore, and Iceland, demonstrating its commitment to a broader international presence.
As a result of this tailored investment solution, Joe & the Juice not only increased its number of locations but also significantly boosted its workforce, employing over 400 people by 2015. The company plans to double its number of shops by the end of 2017, showcasing the quantifiable impact of the investment on its growth trajectory and operational capabilities.
