Investment & Fund Management
one of the leading early-stage UK
Full Credential Description
Xeros, a UK-based company, faced significant challenges in addressing the growing global issue of water scarcity exacerbated by climate change and population growth. Traditional laundering methods consume vast amounts of water, which is unsustainable in the long term. To tackle this problem, Xeros developed an innovative polymer cleaning system that utilizes a unique polymer bead cleaning process, significantly reducing water usage while enhancing cleaning efficiency.
The tailored solution provided by Xeros involves a proprietary detergent solution combined with the molecular structure of the polymer beads, resulting in a cleaning system that outperforms conventional water-based and solvent-based methods. This technology not only conserves water but also reduces energy consumption and the amount of detergent required for effective cleaning.
With the support of Top Technology Ventures, which manages IP Ventures—one of the leading early-stage UK funds backed by the European Investment Fund (EIF)—Xeros was able to finance the development and testing of its prototypes. The encouraging results from these tests have paved the way for a potential commercial launch. Xeros' CEO, Bill Westwater, envisions that their technology could save the equivalent of a million swimming pools' worth of water in the UK alone, highlighting the significant environmental benefits and sustainability impact of their innovative cleaning solution.
