Full Credential Description

The European Investment Fund (EIF) and Banca Transilvania signed a guarantee loan agreement aimed at supporting over 2,000 micro-enterprises in Romania. The primary challenge faced by these micro-entrepreneurs, particularly young entrepreneurs, was the difficulty in accessing credit from traditional banking sources. This agreement under the Progress Microfinance initiative, which is funded by the European Commission and the European Investment Bank, was designed to enhance access to finance for these individuals.

The tailored solution provided through this partnership allows Banca Transilvania to expand its lending activities specifically targeted at small and micro-enterprises. This initiative is part of Banca Transilvania's broader strategy to develop additional financial tools to support local SMEs, which is seen as essential for the revival of the Romanian economy.

As a result of this agreement, Banca Transilvania is positioned to significantly increase its support for micro-enterprises, contributing to economic growth and social inclusion in Romania. The Progress Microfinance initiative has already facilitated commitments of over EUR 110 million to benefit EU micro-borrowers since its inception, demonstrating a substantial impact on the financial landscape for micro-entrepreneurs in the region.
