The European Investment

Full Credential Description

The European Investment Fund (EIF) and Deutsche Bank Italy entered into a guarantee agreement aimed at supporting innovative small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and Small Mid-caps in Italy. This initiative, funded by the European Commission under the Risk Sharing Instrument (RSI), allows Deutsche Bank Italy to provide up to EUR 40 million in financing over the next two years, backed by a 50% guarantee from the EIF. This agreement is significant as it represents the seventh RSI agreement in Italy and the 27th across Europe, contributing to a total loan finance pool exceeding EUR 2 billion for innovative businesses within the EU.

The tailored solution provided through this agreement is designed to encourage banks to lend to SMEs and small mid-caps that require investment financing or operating capital for research, development, and innovation activities. The RSI facility specifically targets companies with fewer than 500 employees, facilitating loans of up to EUR 7.5 million. This strategic partnership aims to quickly channel much-needed finance to innovation-driven businesses in Italy, thereby fostering growth and development in the sector.

As a result of this initiative, Deutsche Bank Italy is positioned to enhance its support for innovative companies, reflecting a strong commitment to the development of Italian SMEs. The EIF's involvement ensures that financial resources are allocated efficiently, enabling these businesses to thrive and contribute to the broader economic landscape.
