Full Credential Description

Lasse Leppäkorpi, a national level triathlete in Finland, faced significant challenges due to over-training, which led to a lengthy recovery period. During this time, he utilized a heart rate measuring belt that was often uncomfortable, prompting his interest in developing more user-friendly health monitoring technologies. This experience inspired him to study biomedical engineering and eventually co-found Beddit, a technology start-up focused on sleep tracking.

Beddit's innovative sleep tracker employs advanced technology to monitor sleep quality, heart rate, and breathing without the need for intrusive wearable sensors. The device is an ultra-thin sensor placed under the bed sheet, which wirelessly transmits detailed sleep analysis to a smartphone. It features a smart alarm that wakes users at the optimal time based on their sleep patterns and provides a SleepScore™ on a scale from 0 to 100, along with personalized suggestions for improving sleep quality.

The accuracy of Beddit's data and its patented sleep tracking methodology have been clinically validated and published in peer-reviewed scientific articles. Within less than three years of entering the market, Beddit exceeded its sales expectations significantly by the end of 2015. The company, supported by early-stage venture capital fund Inventure with backing from the European Investment Fund (EIF), has grown to employ a team of 19 professionals across its offices in Helsinki and Silicon Valley. This growth underscores Beddit's success in making complex health technology accessible to the average consumer.
