Full Credential Description
The Colour Kitchen, a social enterprise based in the Netherlands, faced the challenge of providing employment and training opportunities for individuals from vulnerable groups, including immigrants, ex-prisoners, and those with autism. With a mission to reintegrate these individuals into the labor market, the organization operates four restaurants and 19 in-house catering locations, employing a diverse workforce. The unique aspect of their approach is the comprehensive training program that not only teaches culinary skills but also focuses on personal development, allowing employees to interact with various customer groups.
To support their expansion and professionalization efforts, The Colour Kitchen sought financial assistance. They received an EU-guaranteed loan from Triodos Bank, which is backed by the European Investment Fund (EIF) under the Investment Plan for Europe. This funding will enable them to open new restaurants, effectively doubling the number of students and employees in the coming years. Currently, 75% of their trainees successfully graduate into stable jobs within the restaurant and catering industry, showcasing the effectiveness of their training model. The Colour Kitchen aims to enhance their operations further, including hiring specialized staff for sales and HR, and improving their IT systems, all of which will contribute to their goal of maximizing the potential of their employees.
