Tameside Cotton Mill aimed to revive cotton spinning in Britain, investing over £8 million to convert an old cotton ring-spinning system for processing technical fibres. With plans to double their workforce within a year due to new contracts, they struggled to find skilled sewing machinists, a result of the industry's decline. Additionally, they faced barriers to exporting their new CO2-reducing product to India, including cultural differences and legal complexities. MIDAS assisted by connecting Tameside Cotton Mill with the Skills Company and Job Centre Plus, leading to the establishment of a bespoke Sewing Academy to train unemployed individuals. They also provided introductions to an automotive expert specializing in the Indian market, who offered valuable support and advice. MIDAS further aided the company in exporting their products to Japan and China, while collaborating with Marketing Manchester for marketing and PR support.
A major glucose syrup manufacturer in Trafford Park initiated a significant investment to commercialize CO2 production, a by-product of their manufacturing process. MIDAS supported this venture by arranging for the head of Trafford Council to attend the plant's opening, enhancing local exposure through collaboration with Marketing Manchester and the Global Marketing department.
A Salford manufacturing company, which produces 100% recycled plastic lumber, sought to expand its production lines and improve its recruitment efforts while adhering to sustainable practices. MIDAS facilitated connections with Salford Council for skills matching and local recruitment. They also introduced the company to a more eco-friendly cardboard pallet manufacturer, fostering ongoing discussions, and provided a supplier for internal entry systems, helping the company meet its operational needs.
Lastly, a Salford food and drink manufacturer established a new management system and required a project manager along with support for apprentices and the Apprenticeship Levy. MIDAS connected them with GC Skills & Education for apprenticeship discussions and Aspire Recruitment for candidate sourcing, providing CVs from external candidates engaged through their client network.
