Full Credential Description

Plans have been submitted for the Northern Gateway Development Vehicle (NGDV), a significant employment site in Greater Manchester, which is a 50/50 partnership between Russell LDP and Harworth Group. The initial phase of this development aims to deliver up to 6.5 million square feet of employment space, specifically targeting the advanced manufacturing, industrial, and logistics sectors. This initiative is expected to support the creation of 20,000 jobs, addressing the local need for employment opportunities.

Strategically located at the intersection of the M60, M62, and M66 motorways, the site is part of the Atom Valley Mayoral Development Zone and has been allocated in the Places for Everyone (PfE) joint development plan. Once completed, the first phase is projected to contribute £630 million in gross value added (GVA) to the regional economy annually, alongside generating approximately £20 million in annual business rates to support local council services.

The masterplan emphasizes sustainable design, aiming to create a high-quality environment with employment units, transport and active travel routes, and extensive publicly accessible parkland. This development is positioned as a transformative opportunity for the North West, enhancing the region's economic potential and attracting both local and international employers. The initiative is expected to elevate the northern conurbation of Greater Manchester as a key destination for jobs and skills, fostering inclusive growth and providing future generations with enhanced opportunities.
