Full Credential Description
The One Planet Oxfordshire project, funded by the KR Foundation, faced the challenge of uniting diverse stakeholders across the region—including local councils, universities, businesses, and community groups—to collaboratively envision and work towards a sustainable future. Over the course of 18 months, the initiative successfully engaged more than 100 organizations, facilitating two large stakeholder workshops and providing training to help these entities integrate One Planet Living principles into their operations. This collaborative effort led to the creation of individual 'One Planet Action Plans' by multiple organizations, contributing to a comprehensive routemap for achieving county-wide sustainability.
The culmination of this phase was celebrated at the One Planet Party held at Tap Social, a social enterprise dedicated to employing individuals with criminal justice backgrounds. The event, attended by nearly 80 participants, showcased the innovative steps taken by various organizations towards sustainability and fostered a vibrant atmosphere of community engagement. The success of the project was evident in the enthusiasm and energy present, highlighting Oxfordshire's leadership in pioneering sustainable initiatives within the UK.
Looking ahead, the project has secured additional funding to expand its reach and impact, aiming to involve even more stakeholders and catalyze ambitious changes in the community. The celebration not only recognized past achievements but also inspired participants to envision a future rich in green spaces and resilient communities, reinforcing the project's commitment to fostering a sustainable and equitable environment for all residents of Oxfordshire.
