This collective effort has resulted in a comprehensive sustainability plan that engages diverse stakeholders and promotes a healthier, more livable environment.

In Saanich, Canada, the not-for-profit organization OneEarth has mobilized a wide array of stakeholders, including local schools, to develop sustainability initiatives tailored to the community's needs. This collaborative approach has fostered a sense of ownership and commitment among residents and organizations alike.

In Durban, South Africa, Bioregional South Africa has partnered with local organizations to formulate actionable plans that address the unique ecological and social challenges of the area. Similarly, in Tarusa, Russia, a dedicated local team is working closely with the mayor to position the town as the most sustainable in the country, showcasing a commitment to innovative practices and community engagement.

Elsinore, Denmark, faced challenges in stakeholder engagement, yet several local organizations have embraced the One Planet Living principles, demonstrating resilience and adaptability in their sustainability efforts. In Brazil, the district of Vila Mariana in São Paulo has seen the sustainability organization Ecobairro galvanize stakeholders to create a vision for the district, which is home to 190,000 residents.

As a result of these initiatives, approximately 7.8 million people now live in 25 towns, cities, or city-regions that are actively utilizing the One Planet Living framework. Bioregional has trained hundreds of stakeholders in these locations, leading to the creation of over 100 One Planet Living action plans, which serve as blueprints for sustainable development tailored to the specific contexts of each community.
