In a recent collaboration with Northampton Partnership Homes, Bioregional developed an all-staff sustainability training course aimed at enhancing employee engagement in sustainability initiatives. The challenge faced by Northampton Partnership Homes was the need to foster a culture of sustainability among its staff, ensuring that every employee understood their role in achieving the organization’s sustainability goals. To address this, Bioregional conducted four online workshops that reached 60 staff members, resulting in the generation of over 150 actionable ideas. This approach not only empowered employees by involving them in the solution-finding process but also created a sense of ownership over the sustainability initiatives.
In another instance, Bioregional partnered with global technology company ABB to deepen the understanding of the climate and ecological crisis among a core group of employees. The workshops focused on aligning individual actions with the company’s group-level sustainability targets. Each participant was encouraged to commit to one personal action, fostering accountability and personal investment in the sustainability journey. Bioregional plans to follow up with ABB in a few months to assess the progress made by the participants.
These tailored solutions not only engaged employees at all levels but also instilled a culture of sustainability that is beneficial for business. The workshops were structured around the One Planet Living framework, which encompasses social, economic, and environmental sustainability, ensuring a comprehensive approach to sustainability challenges. The quantifiable outcomes from these initiatives included a significant number of actionable ideas generated and a strengthened commitment to sustainability among employees, ultimately contributing to cost reduction, improved staff morale, and enhanced customer appeal.
