Full Credential Description
Evermore WGV, developed by Yolk Property Group, faced the challenge of creating a sustainable living environment in a car-dependent area of Perth, Western Australia. The project aimed to address the need for affordable, healthy living while minimizing the ecological footprint. To tackle these niche issues, Yolk Property Group implemented the One Planet Living framework, which emphasizes sustainability across various aspects of life, including energy efficiency, health, and community engagement.
The tailored solution involved the development of 24 apartments designed to be net zero carbon from day one. This was achieved through the installation of solar panels and battery storage, ensuring that the building operates on 100% renewable energy. Additionally, the transport infrastructure was innovatively designed to reduce reliance on cars, featuring community bikes, electric vehicle charging stations, and car-sharing facilities, with less than one car-parking space allocated per apartment. This approach not only promotes sustainable transport options but also fosters a community-oriented lifestyle.
As a result of these efforts, Evermore WGV was recognized by Bioregional as a Global Leader in One Planet Living. The project has demonstrated significant achievements in sustainability, setting a benchmark for future developments. The community-focused design and energy-efficient features have positioned Yolk Property Group at the forefront of sustainable development, attracting interest from other developers seeking to learn from their innovative practices. This recognition underscores the project's impact on promoting sustainable living in the region and influencing broader industry standards.
