Generali, a global leader in the insurance industry, faced the challenge of equipping its workforce with the necessary digital skills to remain competitive in a rapidly evolving landscape influenced by advanced technologies like AI and automation. Recognizing that upskilling was essential, Generali sought to integrate these emerging technologies into employee workstreams while preparing them for new roles within the company.

To address this need, Generali partnered with Accenture to launch the We LEARN program, a comprehensive learning initiative aimed at reskilling its global workforce of over 82,000 employees. The program identified essential future-ready skills, including data strategy, data ethics, generative AI, and sustainability. It provided an on-demand learning platform featuring over 200 courses available in 25 languages, encompassing various learning formats such as classroom sessions, virtual learning, gamified modules, and animations.

The We LEARN program not only facilitated talent mobility through “mini-masters” programs in areas like data science and cybersecurity but also introduced a new platform and mobile app that allowed employees to access the full learning catalog, register for courses, and track their learning history. This initiative resulted in 100% engagement among employees, with an impressive average of 32.7 training hours completed per employee and 1,200 senior managers trained specifically on generative AI.

By embedding a culture of continuous learning, Generali empowered its workforce to take ownership of their upskilling journeys, fostering a more agile and skilled environment. The content of the program is dynamically updated to meet the evolving needs of the company, ensuring that employees are equipped to identify strategic data and AI use cases across their functions. This commitment to learning not only enhances employee satisfaction but also drives greater innovation and improved business outcomes for Generali.
