Global law firm White Case LLP advised Nomura on its acquisition of Macquaries US and European public asset management business for US$1.8 billion in an all-cash transaction. This strategic move was aimed at enhancing Nomuras Investment Management Division, which currently manages approximately US$590 billion in client assets. The acquisition is expected to significantly expand Nomuras global capabilities and client footprint, increasing its total assets under management to approximately US$770 billion, with over 35 percent of these assets managed on behalf of clients outside Japan. The transaction involves the acquisition of 100 percent of the stock of Macquarie Management Holdings, Inc., which oversees the public asset management business in the US, as well as its Luxembourg and Austria-based subsidiaries. The deal is subject to regulatory approvals and customary closing , with an anticipated completion by the end of 2025. This acquisition not only positions Nomura for growth in the asset management sector but also enhances its international presence, allowing it to better serve a diverse client base.
