Global law firm White Case LLP advised Nomura on its acquisition of Macquaries US and European public asset management business for US$1.8 billion in an all-cash transaction. This strategic move was aimed at enhancing Nomuras Investment Management Division, which currently manages approximately US$590 billion in client assets. The acquisition is expected to increase Nomuras total assets under management to around US$770 billion, with over 35 percent of these assets managed on behalf of clients outside Japan. The transaction involves the acquisition of 100 percent of the stock of Macquarie Management Holdings, Inc., which oversees the public asset management business in the US, as well as its Luxembourg and Austria-based subsidiaries. This expansion is anticipated to significantly bolster Nomuras global capabilities and client footprint in the investment management sector, positioning the firm for enhanced competitiveness in the market. The deal is subject to regulatory approvals and customary closing , with an expected completion by the end of 2025.
