One notable case was the financing for SK Ons Gigafactory plant in Ivancsa, Hungary, where Milbank advised The ExportImport Bank of Korea, Korea Trade Insurance Corporation, Euler Hermes of Germany, and a consortium of international commercial banks. This US$2 billion financing was pivotal for the establishment of a state-of-the-art battery manufacturing facility, showcasing Milbanks capability in managing large-scale projects in the energy sector. In another significant project, Milbank provided advisory for the Araguaia Nickel Project in Brazil, where they assisted commercial lenders and export credit agencies, including EKF of Denmark, Finnvera of Finland, and SEK of Sweden. This senior debt financing package was crucial for the development of a greenfield nickel mine sponsored by Horizonte Minerals PLC. The project was also recognized as the Global Mining Deal of the Year by Mines and Money, underscoring the strategic importance of the financing in the mining sector. Additionally, Milbank played a key role in the Karawang EV Battery Manufacturing Project in Indonesia, advising Korea Trade Insurance Corporation and a consortium of international commercial banks on a US$711 million term loan. This financing supported a joint venture involving LG Energy Solution, Hyundai Mobis, Hyundai Motor Company, and Kia Corporation to establish an electric vehicle battery cell plant in Karawang, contributing to the regions industrial growth and the global transition to electric vehicles.
