Risk & Compliance

RSM UK

Full Credential Description

RSM was commissioned by the University of Exeter to review its Apprenticeship provision for compliance with the funding rules specified by the Education and Skills Funding Agency (ESFA). The University, a large Russell Group higher education institution, sought assurance that its systems and processes would meet these funding rules, particularly in light of the risk of funding recovery and potential reputational damage due to non-compliance, especially given its significant Apprenticeship provision compared to other institutions. RSM was selected for this assignment due to its extensive experience in conducting similar reviews across various sectors and its established relationship with the University. The University’s commissioning team recognized RSM's expertise, particularly from previous engagements and training seminars. As one of the few audit firms contracted to the ESFA since 2001, RSM provided the University with the confidence that it would receive up-to-date, pragmatic support aligned with the ESFA’s expectations. The tailored solution involved following the ESFA's prescribed approach, which allowed RSM to identify areas of non-compliance within the University’s systems.
